My experience in the pandemic
Hello, welcome to my blog...
Here you can find my experiences as an international business student while being in a pandemic.
I'm Ismael, and I'm coursing 7th semester of bachelor's in international business.
To start, in
this blog I will be telling my direct experience with Covid-19 and analizing
the impacts this disease is having around the world
Institutions
in Colombia and around the world have had to be innovative and adapt the
way they teach and deliver classes over the last year. EAFIT University has
introduced a new hybrid learning model which allows students to attend class
in-person and online. I see the university as a vanguardist institution in
the adoption of prevention measures as soon as COVID-19 cases were happening in
Colombia and Medellín. The University clearly attached to their ruling
principle of "mutuo cuidado" which lead to the implementation
of virtual classes by using technological resources and invested in the
adecuation of the campus infrastructure to be certified in biosecurity
practices by ICONTEC and started the safe return to campus initiative limiting
the assistance of the campus to 30% daily capacity, which benefitiated first
semester students, and the practical orientated bachelors such as enginering,
geology, biology among other sciences.
The
transition of presential classes to virtual classes was not a problem for me,
as I am very tech savvy which did not represent any problem to get used
to it, instead I can now use better my time because I can multitask. Also I
stopped traveling long distances daily to go to the university, situation that
allowed me to move back to live with my parents in the countryside. It also
give me the opportunity to register more courses in the semester by using
time management strategies that allow me to finish portuguese, take 7 courses
and work in the previous semester because I wanted to take the challenge of
studiyng and working as the same time and managing my time to acomplish my
objectives.
Finishing I think that this pandemic has brought us
together due to interconnectivity and globalization and at the same time is
being very challenging and difficult to handle for the Colombian society, as
the immunization process is slow and the economy is weakening. This situations are making our community to face this crisis with support and collaboration between institutions and members of society, which has incentivized research and development
among many innovative proposals to combat the pandemic. Finally, I think the
virtualization can make a big impact in the access to transparent information
by acknowledging official sources, situation that I think could foster the
Colombian citizens to be aware from the official sources, what the government,
health organizations, politicians and interest groups are doing that are
benefiting the society and health organizations to prioritize safeguarding the
health of our people.

Hi Ismael, i found really interesting too see how you are the other side of the coin, you are the type of people that in some way the virtuality was a good thing for them. I also agree with you that "this pandemic has brought us together due to interconnectivity and globalization" because i think that the most important lesson is to understand that technologies and the correct use of them is a fundamental tool for this society and and that more and more we live in a globalized world.
